Subaru is set to unveil its BRZ STi Sport Concept, along with other STI-Tuned models at Tokyo Auto Salon from January 13th to 15th, 2017.

2017 Subaru BRZ STi Sport Concept

At the moment all we have is the one photo, and needless to say, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Concept BRZ STi from Subaru that didn’t end up going anywhere. This one’s styling is a lot more subtle than the last one, however, which would perhaps indicate it may actually go in to production.

The internet lost it’s collective mind when the turbocharged  STi Concept was revealed back in 2015, only to be disappointed when it turned out to be nothing more than a showcase of what Subaru Technica International “could do” rather than what they intended to actually do.

The car features a more aggressive bodykit, along with 18-inch wheels, but the big question is, will it have boost?

So far Subaru haven’t revealed any details, and only says that it will deliver “STi-tuned driving performance” as well as “exclusive exterior and interior parts with a high quality feel”.

Given that the cheif designer of the car, Toyota’s Tetsuya Tada has stated on numerous occasions (including when I asked him personally at the Aussie Festival of 86 back in 2014) that there will never be a turbocharged or spercharged production model as they want to leave this to the aftermarket industry, I wouldn’t hold your breath for any significant increases in performance.

Subaru will also be showcasing their new Levorg STi Sport and Impreza G4 – STi Performance at the show, along with the BRZ GT300 for the Super GT race amd WRX STi NBR Challenge 2016 race car, hot of the back of its two consecutive championship wins in the SP3T class of the 24 Hour Nurburgring endurance race.
